Y ou will have difficulty finding a part of the lake that has not been crossed by a windsurf board. Since the 80s windsurfing has developed and stemmed in this zone and even today during the summer those who practice it arrive from all over Europe, sure to find a bit of wind even when a leaf does not budge on the rest of the continent! Let’s see which the most popular spots are: Torbole - True reference point in the windsurfing panorama not only in Italy but also in the rest of Europe. You can sail with the Ora (Southern wind) in the warmer hours of the day. Every beach is provided with an equipped structure where you can find numerous stores and specialized centres.
Riva del Garda - You can sail with the Ora on Porfina beach in similar conditions to Torbole. Over-crowding in the water, however, is reduced. You should not miss when the Vinessa blows strongly over the whole lake and the wavy motion becomes remarkable.
Hotel Pier - Historical Spot where the glorious King of the Lake was born. Here the Ora blows with a greater intensity and frequency compared to the rest of the lake but access to the beach is controlled by the few available parking spots.
Hotel Capo Reamol - The spot is found near the Capo Reamol Hotel Beach, where the lake begins to narrow after the gulf of Limone. It is very effective with the Northern wind while the Ora blows with little intensity.
Campione - Famous spot for kitesurfing but also visited by windsurfers. You can navigate with both winds from the South/North which can reach a substantial intensity.
Pradelafam - Probably the more evocative and beautiful place on the lake for windsurfing. In a fantastic natural context, surrounded by colours and smells of the local nature you can exit with the Peler (Northern wind) that begins to blow later here than in Malcesine.
Toscolano - You exit the beach of Toscolano in challenging conditions with strong gusts from the North where the wind can reach up to 40 nodes. In this situation it becomes one of the best places to sail with great ramps for jumping.
Desenzano - You exit from the beach called Desenzanino. It’s off season that this spot offers occasionally fabulous conditions when the Northern wind is strong enough to form real and true waves that reach up to the lakeshore.
Sirmione - You exit near Brema beach with Northern winds but especially with the Ander, an occasional wind which comes from South-West. With the Vinessa you can sail near Port Galeazzi. Torri del Benaco - You can exit mainly from the parking lot in the Crero area. Like in Toscolano, here the strong Northern winds blow with great intensity and the conditions become challenging and fun for jumps.
Castelletto di Brenzone - You exit with strong Northern winds as high as the town cemetery. There are only few parking spots available. The wind is often gusty near the shore.
Isola di Assenza - You exit in the Assenza area, in the beach facing the small island of Trimelone. The conditions are optimal when the Northern winds blow in with good intensity and at a particular direction that does not allow to sail in Malcesine.
Malcesine - You exit from the bus parking lot which is located at the beginning of the town from the North side. Peler here blows with a very high frequency and the only sad note is that in the summer one has to wake at dawn (in order to park in August even earlier… ) because the wind here blows only in the first hours of the morning.
Navene/Campagnola - A zone combed mainly by the Ora that offers the perfect conditions for freeriding. Occasionally these spots offer some favourable conditions with the Northern winds that however remain gusty near the shore.
